Variable Variable
Spring hangers
Enerkeit's variable Pstring hanger are the most widely used and cost-effective solution for supporting piping systems that undergo vertical movement caused by thermal expansion. Engineered with a high-quality helical spring, these hangers provide reliable spring hanger while allowing the piping to move freely, keeping stress levels within safe and acceptable limits.

Variable Pipe Supports are the industry-standard choice for the vast majority of applications where thermal movement is not excessive and a slight variation in supporting force can be tolerated.
CONTACT USHow Does a Variable Spring hanger Work?
The operating principle is straightforward: the hanger uses the compression force of a calibrated spring to counterbalance the weight of the piping system.
As the pipe expands (moving downward), it compresses the spring, causing the supporting force to increase. As the pipe contracts (moving upward), the spring expands, and the supporting force decreases. The difference between the supporting force in the cold and hot positions is known as "load variability."
Benefits of Variable Spring hangers
- ✅Cost-Effective and Efficient Solution: They provide an excellent cost-to-performance ratio for a wide range of applications.
- ✅Compact and Versatile Design: Their compact size and wide variety of available configurations make installation easier, even in confined spaces.
- ✅Wide Range of Loads and Sizes: We manufacture hangers designed to handle everything from light to heavy loads, accommodating virtually any pipe size.
- ✅Easy Selection and Installation: The selection process is straightforward and based on the required load capacity and expected movement.

The Key Factor: Controlling Load Variability
The most critical factor when designing with variable Pipe Supports is ensuring that the "load variability" does not exceed an acceptable limit, which is typically established at 25% by piping design codes.A variability greater than 25% indicates that the stresses transferred to the piping system and connected equipment may become excessive, making a constant Pipe Support necessary. Our engineers can help you select the correct spring size to keep load variability within safe limits for your system.
Common Configurations and Types
To accommodate virtually any mounting requirement, we manufacture a complete range of variable Pipe Supports in accordance with standards such as MSS SP-58.
- Type A: Top-mounted support designed to be suspended from an overhead structure.
- Type B and C: Top-mounted support with the spring can positioned below or above the attachment point.
- Type D and E: Trapeze-mounted configuration designed for dual-rod installation.
- Type F: Base-mounted support designed to carry piping from a lower structure.
- Type G: Top-mounted support designed for parallel installation alongside the structural member.
