FABRIC EXPANSION JOINT
Belt Type
When air and hot gas duct systems require superior flexibility and high-temperature resistance, Enerkeit's fabric expansion joints are the engineering solution by design. We specialize in the custom manufacturing of non-metallic joints, designed to absorb large movements in complex geometries where metal or rubber joints are not viable.
Our solutions are the standard in low-pressure systems for handling combustion gases, hot air, and other gaseous media in the most demanding industries.

Belt type expansion joints are attached directly to the outside of the duct using clamps. They are normally used for:
CONTACT US- Low temperatures (up to 300°C).
- Low to medium flow velocity.
- Low to medium dust concentration.
APPLICATIONS
- ✅ Adaptability to Complex Geometries: They are custom-manufactured for square, rectangular, circular, or oval ducts, ensuring a perfect fit.
- ✅ High Temperature Resistance: Thanks to their multilayer construction with insulating materials, they can operate in systems with gases up to 1000°C (1832°F).
- ✅ Lightweight and Low Load: Their fabric construction does not add structural stress to ducts and supports, unlike heavy metal joints.
- ✅ Chemical Resistance: We select barrier materials, such as PTFE, to guarantee compatibility with corrosive gases and acidic condensates.
- ✅ Excellent Acoustic and Thermal Insulation: In addition to absorbing movement, they reduce noise transmission and heat loss in the system.
MATERIALS
- External Layer: The first barrier against the environment. Generally made of silicone-coated fiberglass fabric, protecting against weathering, moisture, and mechanical damage.
- Insulation Layer: Composed of materials like ceramic fiber or fiberglass, acting as a thermal shield to protect internal layers from high gas temperatures.
- Chemical & Gas Barrier (Seal Layer): The most critical component. A PTFE (Teflon®) membrane or similar compound guarantees total gas impermeability and resists chemical attack.
- Internal Layer: A stainless steel mesh or fiberglass reinforcement that protects the chemical barrier from direct contact with abrasive particles in the gas flow.
Multilayer Construction: Engineering for Every Condition
The secret to a fabric expansion joint's performance lies in its multilayer design, where each material plays a critical role.
1. Outer Layer: The first barrier against the environment. Typically made of silicone-coated fiberglass fabric, it protects against weathering, moisture, and mechanical damage.
2. Insulation Layer: Composed of materials such as ceramic fiber or fiberglass, this layer acts as a heat shield, protecting the inner layers from high gas temperatures.
3. Chemical and Gas Barrier (Seal Layer): The most critical component. A PTFE (Teflon®) membrane or similar composite ensures complete gas impermeability and resists chemical attack from fluids.
4. Inner Layer: A wire mesh or fiberglass reinforcement that protects the chemical barrier from direct contact with abrasive particles in the gas stream.
